lotus

lotus

part of an amazing set of photographs of china.

while they were seen, by some, in a gallery, i saw them in a book called CHINA. they are very big. the scale cannot be grasped by this page.

but of course i love the lotus ones the most.

a flame in my heart

I DON'T WANT TO SET THE WORLD ON FIRE

- words and music by Eddie Seiler, Sol Marcus,
Bennie Benjamin and Eddie Durham

I don't want to set the world on fire
I just want to start
A flame in your heart

In my heart I have but one desire
And that one is you
No other will do

I've lost all ambition for worldly acclaim
I just want to be the one you love
And with your admission that you feel the same
I'll have reached the goal I'm dreaming of

Believe me!
I don't want to set the world on fire
I just want to start
A flame in your heart. 1

the purr-loined letters

a collection, growing constantly, of popular american magazine covers from more than a century.

this is clearly not only not kitsch, nor nostalgia, nor even a form of commerce. this is the fine art of our daily lives.

(and some of it is gratefully purloined here.)

the awakening conscience?

if it had not been for the sight of his left hand on the keyboard, i would be certain that it was not exactly her conscience being awakened.

from another russian blog of which i know nothing that is going on other than that it is something like a novel being created by the community that visits it?

in any case, this woman also has the ability to find wondrous imagery, from which i occasionally borrow, as in the top image here.

shades of grey

flowerville. always like fine wine. or maybe absinthe.

all pens are broken (after a long working life), except the one on the left and the wooden one.
